Only in Australia…continued

So a couple I forgot on the last add:

They were pretty strong

Loving the funky location names

Lazy jelly!

My Australian mate, Tom, couldn’t see the funny side of this sign!

This isn’t Tom in the photo, this is English Danny G!

Canadian?….Irish?…

At the Gabba…and they really were!

They make it look fun

This article was originally from an English newspaper, but I read it here,
so there!

Loving the mix of big city, meets old church meets palm trees!

261…Hahahaha…I don’t get it

And Queensland used to be “The Sunshine State”, now they’re just a little bit full of themselves!

What’s the point then!

These curbs are ridiculous deep and big, and everywhere…and needless!

And of course, planking!

I also want to apologise for my comments on the white man (as in the light that says you can “Safely” cross the road in USA and Canada), well I don’t apologise, I stand by what I said, it aint safe. But the green man over here is so so much worse, and slow, it’s sometimes safer to cross the road when the man is red…which is completely illegal (jay walking is an immediate on the spot heavy fine here)! Stupid laws, this is the only place where you can be a pedestrian and have a genuine excuse for being late if you blame the crappy traffic light system!

I never know how to start an entree in my blog, and this one has changed a few times over the last couple of days (cos our pocket Wi-Fi at home is crap so I couldn’t post this entreeeeeeeeeeee (hehe, told ya Mum, travelling hasn’t changed me, I’m still an sarcky idiot)) so I suppose I’ll start with work, been there for four weeks now, it’s going pretty well, getting more and more involved as time goes on, but enjoying it. Starting work building a Continuous Power Supply, I would like to say from scratch, but that’d be too easy. I’m ripping parts out of a unit that was once on fire, and is now just a mess.

Two weeks ago, The Groove Train put a few of us on a barista course, which was well worth it, spending a couple of hours being trained by Australia’s third best barista, Jean-Paul Sutton. My coffees actually taste pretty awesome now, it’s amazing how much detail goes into it. I also forgot to mention that The Groove Train has recently changed it’s cocktail menu, which meant that the bar staff had to have training on them about a month ago, aka free testing! Sweet. This was on the same day that I received a free physical in the morning for my GroundProbe job, and free food and beer at Kirra-Lea’s (one of the girls that works with me at Groove Train, with blue hair) graduation art presentation……that’s right, I celebrated passing my alcohol test by drinking, don’t blame me, it was all free. Oh, and on Sunday just passed, staff got free alcohol and food at The Groove Train in the middle of Brisbane (the other Groove Train in Brisbane that I don’t work at)! Good Cheap Times!

Jean-Paul Sutton, this guy was serious about coffee, he even had beans tattooed on his arm!

Right, there’s that part down. Dan (my roommate)’s girlfriend arrived here from England two weeks ago, and for her second day here, we took Tom and ourselves over to North Stradbroke Island (properly known as Straddy). Again, yet another pretty awesome place…and still pretty warm. And that day was the one year anniversary of my American visa getting approves, aka the first official step in my “epic” travels becoming official.

This used to be my little section of our bathroom, just a toothbrush, toothpaste, and my razor….not anymore….

Last Sunday, the three of us heading down to Daisy Hill, which is about an hour south of Brisbane to see the Koalas, we even saw a wild wallaby whilst we were down there (still yet to see a live roo).

Also, fair play to The Queensland “Maroones” who beat New South Wales last night, to win the State of Origin 2-1 in the 2011 series. I actually enjoyed a game of rugby (not footie)! Last time I did that was when England beat Australia in the World Cup Final…Ooooooh! But the game also left for some entertaining sites on Brisbane’s streets last night (and you people think it’s just English football fans that fight…tut tut).
Road tripping to Cairns starting Monday! Work’s done now for the week, a weekend off, which involved me getting behind a drum kit today, and it’s giving me the jamming itch again (I miss playing (and yes, yes it is a contagious itch)), get stuff together tomorrow, then a phat holiday!

Just wanna finish this one by saying Happy Canadian Day to all my Canadian buddies for last Friday, and Happy Independence Day to all my American peeps for last Monday. Much love, hope you all had an awesome time!

10 months and 1 day since I left the mother land!!! And everyone who reads this one, please realise how much effort went into posting this, having good internet is a luxury that some people take for advantage!
