Help me to help The Royal Children's Hospital in Australia

Yo, I will write an update in my blog as soon as possible (as I have been up to a fair bit since my last entrĂ©e), but this is a just one to ask people to sponsor me to help raise money for Royal Children's Hospital. The idea is that I'm in a team of 15 (I don't know any of them, I just joined a random team on the charity's website), but between us we virtually climb Mount Everest. Everyone in 'my team' and I will have to walk 10,000 steps every day (each) for the next two weeks. I will have a step counter on me.

Please help, that'd be great. I aint done anything for charity since I left England, so I thought that this'd be a good idea.

You can sponsor me on http://www.imworkingwonders.com.au/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=397701
If you don't want to sponsor me, then you can still follow my progress on this link. I just hope that my step counter arrives before 30th May!

Thank you.

Gold Coast Suns Vs Brisbane Lions

Longish story short, I didn't add these videos to the entree I just put up (below), but this is from the weekend's Queensland AFL derby, good times

See I told you that's how they really throw it in. I love the random "Score a another goal" shout out, well done mate.

At 34 minutes into the 4th Quarter (a quarter being 20 minutes) at 104-104 we thought this was the winning goal....

...It still went on!

Journey to New South Wales!

Well I’ll start off where I left off….here is the pirate ship (aka a replica of the Endeavour) that was outside work over the last couple of weeks:

And, like I said I would, I also said I’d get some bird’s eye views of Brisbane. As I was working for Dell again over the weekend I got some pictures from the 32nd and 33rd floor of Suncorp’s Brisbane Square building:

I also wanna add (and yeah, maybe it is being a big headed), I wanted to write this in my last blog or the one before, but the other week, on a Wednesday night, after work I headed out for a few drinks, and at some point nature called, and my bladder was requiring some emptying. So I joined the queue, waited for a long while for that queue to die down, then just as I got to the front of the queue a woman passed out on the floor and started throwing up all over the place. Now the thing I’m most impressed with is that after being trained on my first aid nearly 6 years ago, and having a few beers in me, I still remembered how to do my first add, and after fishing the chips out of her throat, putting her in the recovery position, then keeping her warm, and waiting for the ambulance to arrive…I then had to join the back of the toilet queue…seriously, I was brimming badly by then, they let me go back to the front of the queue, awww…apparently she wasn’t even drunk!?!?

Anyways, the weekend before last Dan and I hired a car and went on a random little road trip down to New South Wales, we picked up our little Nissan Micra and headed south from Brisbane. We headed to a small town called Nimbin which is in the middle of nowhere, and they were having a festival where they were trying to “change the law”:

We then headed to Byron Bay so we could have a few drinks and crash out for the night:

That was two weekends ago, as for last weekend (aside for me working pretty much all of it) it was Dan’s birthday, so we headed to the Gabba for the first ever Queensland derby in AFL, Gold Coast Suns (a newly formed team) Vs Brisbane Lions. It was a pretty entertaining game, I mean at one point (right near the end) it was 104-all, you just don’t get crazy scores like that in football. We ended up being sat with the Sun’s fans which worked well for us, as the Suns actually won! We then headed into Fortitude Valley for the rest of the night…and I DID wake up for work on time on Sunday morning!!!!

That’s pretty much it for now really, although I did finally buy my Go Card today, which if you are ever visiting Brisbane I recommend, cheap travel on all the buses, ferries and trains, and you just swipe on – swipe off (which I’m gonna have to remember every time I get off the bus). I’ve also pretty much decided that I wanna better myself whilst I’m out here (whilst earning more money) so I’ve been applying for more Engineering jobs out here, it’s gonna be hard (due to the working restrictions on my visa) but I’m getting there!

I would like to add that, as I’m so far away I didn’t get to storm the St Mary’s pitch with my fellow Saints, but we did fly the red and white flag with pride on Saturday to celebrate Southampton’s last game in League One. Up the Saints, getting promoted to Championship, year two of the five year plan complete! Southampton till I die!

And finally happy Birthday for Friday Mum, we’ll speak then! And assuming I won’t be adding an entree before, Happy Birthday Dad for the following Friday.

Tomorrow = Beer and BBQ Brewery tour for Dan and I at XXXX!
